Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches

Registration for the Winter Semester 2026/2027 will take place online in Jogustine during the period from 12.10-14.10. 2026.
- Please read the course descriptions in Jogustine carefully before registering.
- You may enroll in only one German course per semester at the ISSK.
- If your preferred course fills up quickly, please do not register for a different level. Instead, email us during the registration period so that we can add you to the waiting list. In most cases, this will secure you a place in your preferred course.
- Please bring proof of your language proficiency to the first class meeting. The following forms of proof are accepted:
1. proof of successful participation in the German course A2.2 at ISSK, JGU Mainz within the last two semesters (certificate of participation or photo Transcript of Records)
2. Goethe-Zertifikat A2
3. telc Deutsch A2 Zertifikat with the result "befriedigend", gut" or sehr gut"
4. ÖSD Zertifikat A2
5. Erasmus+ OLS Sprachtest Deutsch> test result: A2
6. If you don’t have a certificate, please take the free placement test.
We recommend attending the B1.1 German course if you achieve 73-96 points in the placement test.

Inhalt

This course is designed for students who have completed level A2 (A2.1+A2.2).

At the end of this class, students
- should be able to understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
- might be able to deal with most situations likely to arise whilst travelling in an area where the language is spoken
- should be able to produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest
- ought to be able to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes & ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans

Infinitive clause
Revision dependent clauses
Consecutive clause structures with variations of „deshalb"
Preterite tense
Subjunctive voice – conditional sentences
Pronouns and pronominal adverbs
Future tense
N-declension

Speaking / Writing focus:
announcements, writing of simple texts with concept words

Course completion requirements:
- Written exam
- Oral exam
