Voraussetzungen / Organisatorisches
Registration for the Winter Semester 2026/2027 will take place online in Jogustine during the period from 12.10-14.10. 2026.- Please read the course descriptions in Jogustine carefully before registering.
- You may enroll in only one German course per semester at the ISSK.
- If your preferred course fills up quickly, please do not register for a different level. Instead, email us during the registration period so that we can add you to the waiting list. In most cases, this will secure you a place in your preferred course.
- Please bring proof of your language proficiency to the first class meeting. The following forms of proof are accepted:
1. proof of successful participation in the German course A2.1 at ISSK, JGU Mainz within the last two semesters (certificate of participation or photo Transcript of Records)
2. Goethe-Zertifikat A1 with the result "sehr gut"
3. telc Deutsch A1-Zertifikat with the result „sehr gut“
4. ÖSD Zertifikat A1 with the result "sehr gut"
5. Erasmus+ OLS Sprachtest Deutsch> test result: A1 in all four parts
6. If you don’t have a certificate, please take the free placement test.
We recommend attending the A2.2 German course if you achieve 55-72 points in the placement test.

Inhalt
This course is designed for students with completed level A2.1.At the end of this class, students
- understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment)
- communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters
- describe in simple terms aspects of his/her background, immediate environment and matters in areas of immediate need
Grammar focus:
- Indirect question sentences with “ob”
- Local prepositions
- Subjunctive voice (Konjunktiv)
- Main clause connectors “deshalb” and “trotzdem”
- dependent clauses with “ als” and “wenn”
- verbs with prespositions
- dative and accusative verbs
- relative clauses
Speaking / Writing focus:
- Phone conversations, professional introduction, reading and understanding longer texts
Course completion requirements:
- Written exam
- Oral exam
