On behalf of the Ministry of Education, Science, Continuing Education and Culture of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate (MBWWK), the ISSK conducts German language courses for refugees with positive residence status and a proven higher education entrance qualification who are willing to study in accordance with Section 94 (1) sentence 5 of the University Act.<\/p>\n\n \n<\/jgu-base-anchornavigation>\n

Applicants with officially recognized refugee status or subsidiary protection (\u00a7 25 para. 1 or \u00a7 25 para. 1 or 2 Residence Act).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/jgu-base-section><\/div>\n\n

The course lasts one semester and concludes at level B2. It is then possible to apply for courses to prepare for the assessment test at the ISSK in order to take the assessment test after a further six months of study. After passing the assessment test, graduates can apply for a place at university. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \n<\/jgu-base-buttonitem>\n\n<\/jgu-base-button>\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n\n \n\n

The course lasts two semesters and concludes with the DSH. After completing the course, graduates can apply for a place at university. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \n<\/jgu-base-buttonitem>\n\n<\/jgu-base-button>\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n\n \n\n

Our German language courses prepare you for the DSH. In class, students work on actual exam tasks which are analyzed and discussed in the group together with the teachers. In addition, we cover the grammar and vocabulary of the German Academic Language (Deutsche Wissenschaftssprache \/DWS) to ease the transition to a program of study in Germany. The content of lessons also covers topics that are relevant to studying and living in Germany. This will enable you to integrate socially and academically. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The lessons also train competencies and skills that are important for a program of study in Germany. You will receive additional materials to work through independently or in groups during the self-study units. Students and teachers then meet in the attendance phases to discuss results together. In this way, you will get to know the learning practice at a German university at an early stage. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n\n \n\n

Foreign applicants for a place at university who have been admitted by Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz must provide proof of the necessary German language proficiency. Proof can be provided by passing the “German Language Test for Admission to Higher Education (DSH)”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You have been awarded the B1 CEFR German language certificate in the application process and are therefore attending the German language course for refugees. In this course, you will be prepared for the internal final examination (B2 CEFR), which will then entitle you to attend the FSP courses.The course comprises 20 SWS (12 SWS face-to-face lessons and 8 SWS self-study units) and lasts around 12 weeks. <\/p>\n\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabsitem>\n\n<\/jgu-base-tabs><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/jgu-base-section><\/div>\n\n
